Remember When Gas was 1.00 per Gallon?

It was over 16 years ago when I first started driving and fueling up my own vehicle.  $5.00 would actually get you somewhere.  If you haven’t already, or even if you’re reflecting on times before that when gas was even less, it’s time to admit defeat!  Gas prices will NEVER be $1.00 per gallon again.

Fuel INefficiency

Just a few weeks ago, our second vehicle was a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport.  It was limping on it’s last leg.  A new (to us) vehicle was in the near future.  Instead of a monthly auto-loan payment, we decided to hang on until the very last thread paying oodles in fuel costs.  Gasoline for just that one vehicle was nearly $80 per week.  I’m sure many of you can identify.

Unfortunately the vehicle was totaled right before our move.  The insurance company of the driver that caused the accident, was kind enough to extend the rental up until the day our move began, which was an extra four days.  It was a blessing.  Fortunately, we got WAY more than we expected and had a nice plump down payment.  We were able to purchase a used 2010 Kia Optima with one owner and only 50,000 miles on Easter Sunday.

Just one week later, we already realizing the benefits of fuel efficiency.  Not only did we shorten the distance from one place of employment from 20 to 10 miles, but the other drive remained the same in an already fuel efficient vehicle (2006 Kia Spectra).  Our fuel costs for both vehicles for a week are now $40-$50.

What Would You Do If You Didn’t Have to Pay for Gas for a WHOLE YEAR?

Imagine $50 a week saved.  That’s $2,600 with two very fuel efficient vehicles.  If you have a less than fuel efficient vehicle, just imagine what a blessing one year of free fuel from Shell would be! I personally need a washer & dryer, a mattress for the master bedroom, a mattress for my TEEN (it’s time to graduate), dining room furniture and a vacation!

Win Shell fuel for a year for you and 5 friends!

One lucky winner plus 5 of their friends will have an opportunity to win free Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasoline for a full year.
The Promotion starts at 12:00:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on February 5, 2013 and closes at 11:59:59 PM ET on May 6, 2013
