Lost No More! Waterproof Labels to the Rescue!

kidecalslogo

Most parents can easily provide at least one anecdote of a time where their child lost something, whether it’s value be small or large.  These things, regardless of size, cost money.  We all know this going in, or we very quickly find it out when we encounter the costs of basic necessities, much less lost items that a child has either received as gifts or earned from household participation.  We place labels on items, only for the labels to fall off, fade or deteriorate through contact with water.

A black permanent marker was a go-to solution back in the day.  Nearly thirteen years ago, when my son was born, eBay was becoming increasingly popular.  Sales of gently used children’s clothing soared.  The black permanent marker, while still a solution, devalued the sale price of used children’s clothing, so I opted not to use them.

The alternatives to the black permanent marker were slim.  The only thing that offered more superior performance was a sewn in label and my Home Economics skills seem to have escaped me.  Not to mention the fact that exerting the effort to sew in a label for clothing that would be outgrown in a matter of months wasn’t high on my priority list.

I sure do wish these were around 13 years ago.  I cannot count the number of items that remain M.I.A. because we did not label them.  I remember leaving a light jacket in the shopping cart return at Walmart.  Of course, we’d be hard pressed to try to even fit half of my son’s arm in it today, but if it were labeled it might have been returned to us in time to make good use of it.

It goes without saying, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  I could make good use of the chalkboard labels.  One might call me the absent minded party attendee!

Whether you’re looking to claim your belongings for yourself or your child(ren), searching for a great gift for a new mom or just trying to get organized kidecals offers solutions for all!

ROAR: I’m Never Full!

It’s on, like Donkey Kong.  We’ve officially entered the TEEN years.   Today I received “the sign”.

While my son’s first year of officially being a “TEEN” is nearly over, in a matter of weeks, I’ve yet to “feel it” yet.

Yesterday afternoon, I called my son on my way home from work to let him know I had to run a few errands prior to arriving home.

I advised him to eat one of the Campbell’s Go Soups if he was hungry immediately.  He then proceed to advise me he already had Pringles. (Now that’s wholesome).

I repeated that he should eat the Go Soups if that didn’t tide him over.  He then told me that he’s NEVER FULL!!

TEEN Meets Go-Kart

Yay! I finally figured out how to get the teen out of the house.

mountasia-tile

Over the years, we’ve visited venues that offer gaming arcades and we’ve even played miniature golf at places like Mountasia.  When I was offered the opportunity to visit Mountasia in Marietta, Georgia again to enjoy their miniature golf, go-karts and games, I jumped! Getting my 13 year old video-gamer out  of the house would be a miracle!

We received an unlimited family day pass for Go-Karts & Putt-Putt for FREE in exchange for our honest review thanks to the USFamilyGuide.com.

It wasn’t until we were on our way that I realized my little one had NEVER driven a Go-Kart on his own as he did not meet the height requirement in the past.  Needless to say, the Go-Karts were our first stop.  Nicholas (aka I am TEEN, hear me ROAR), was excited and seemed a bit anxious to experience his VERY FIRST Go-Kart “DRIVE”.  He rode the car in between me and my boyfriend.  My boyfriend stayed ahead of him and even stopped for us to catch up at one point.  I stayed behind, the first go round.

The second time around, we all chose Go-Karts in non-adjacent positions.  My son chose the last car and pretty much stayed in last position the entire time, but he exclaimed that it was okay.  He felt safe this way and I’m glad.  This is a minor indication that he might be the crazed backseat driver I taught him to be.

On another note, during the first go round, I wondered who had stolen my child who loves playing car racing video games and somewhat felt like I was stuck in evening traffic!!

We also thoroughly enjoyed two rounds of mini-golf on two different courses.

This is the part where we play “No, YOU keep score”….

One of the holes was in a cave like structure.  Nicholas pretended to climb the wall.

That’s a REAL SMILE from a TEEN.

We had a great time at Mountasia Marietta!

Overall, we had a great time and we’ll definitely head out to Mountasia Marietta again soon.  Even though were about 30 miles away, it’s on the side of town where we are all familiar with.  The visit to Mountasia Marietta also gave us the opportunity to visit a restaurant that we had been wanting to visit for months, Big Pie in the Sky (featured on Man VS. Food).  So, even though we have similar venues nearby, it was a treat!

{Seven Snippets} 10/19/2012

At work, we love sharing food with each other.

Since I am fortunate to have the opportunity to review many food items, I seem to bring the most to the table, until the other day.  I brought in [NAMELESS PRODUCT] as my family had not taken advantage of this seemingly delightful snack.

Both my coworkers and I tried it only to find that not only was it super delicious, but it had also been RECALLED! Oh, no! When I found out how much they liked [NAMELESS PRODUCT], I decided to head to the product’s website to remind myself of what other flavors I had tried and the first piece of information on the website was that the product had been voluntarily recalled due to other recalls within the industry.

Stop eating the “XXXXXXX“, I exclaimed as I picked up an incoming phone call.

Only, my coworkers thought I was exclaiming in jest due to their rapid consumption of the product.

Fortunately, we all had consumed very little and made it to work the next day.

This is a story we will all never forget and I will be taunted for eternally!

Nicholas has grown out of his jeans.  He has been wearing a size 14.  I was afraid that was the end of the line for children’s clothing, but fortunately Old Navy still has a size 16 (and 18). Phew! I think the moment where we venture into “adult” sizes, is when I will be “affected”.  We got great deals through ShopAtHome.Com.

This weekend, I HOPE to be able to accomplish the following:

I plan to wake up early, get a lil’ pretty with my new Avon (shop my Avon store using the link below) products, hit a few garage sales and/or try to find a new washer, come back home and tidy up a bit and do some laundry. By then the boys will be up and just in time to try out my tasty crockpot chicken wings. Then we’ll head to the movies (if we can all AGREE on a movie) and come back home for some family fun with the Kinect (barring any football interruptions). And that’s JUST SATURDAY!!

What’s everyone got on their slate?

What Is ShopAtHome?

What Is Shop At Home?

ShopAtHome.Com is a shopping gateway, where you can earn cash back for your online purchases.  In the past, I’ve used other cash back sites during the holidays, but I’ve been making more online purchases than in store purchases than ever before even outside of holiday shopping.

From glasses, to anti-virus software to Halloween costumes, or even clothing for my teen, pet food and more, shopping online with ShopAtHome.com is VERY rewarding.  Here is just a snippet of what I’ve saved in the past month or so, with more to follow!

Matching & Referrals

The best part about it ShopAtHome.com is that they will match cash back from any competitor’s site 110% and you get $5 for referrals.  To earn referral rewards, your friend must sign up, mention your email (or use your link) and purchase through ShopAtHome.com.  Your referral rewards will be sent once you reach $20 in cash back rewards from shopping.

Occasionally, there are specials where stores offer tremendous percent cash-back rewards.  If you time your purchases just right, it’s similar to couponing for your groceries, household and personal care items without the hassle of clipping coupons or going to the store, but the breadth of products is more extensive.

Community Rewards

ShopAtHome.com even has community rewards where you can rack up points for adding coupon codes, commenting on coupons or sharing coupons on Facebook.  Points are accumulated weekly and prizes are awarded weekly to the fifteen members with the most points accumulated and five random active community members.

BONUS: you are awarded additional points when other users comment, click or vote thumbs up on your coupon!

To be eligible for prizes you must be a legal resident of the 50 United States and District of Columbia and are members of ShopAtHome.com, ages 18+.  See official rules for details.

Coupon Codes

ShopAtHome.com not only offers cash back, but it can sometimes be combined with coupon codes for percent savings, free shipping or other special offers.
