This is arguably the best app to keep people from using their phones while driving, but it has two disadvantages. First of all, your teen may still have trouble accessing their phone when they aren’t driving (unless you are the one to disable the device). The app also costs nearly $100.

Safe Driver

This app can helps you monitor your teens driving habits. You will be instantly notified if they go over the speed limit or break another traffic law. You will be notified in real time and told where the violation took place. You can use the app for free, but you will need to pay $5 for more advanced features. The professional version allows you to customize reports on your teen’s driving habits.

Safer Car

This is an app that is available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has all the information consumers need to drive safely. It can give you information on how to respond in different types of driving conditions or let you know what to do if your vehicle stalls on the road. This can be great for teens involved in a difficult situation, because they usually don’t have the experience to know how to respond.

Drivesafe.ly Pro

This device helps you make sure that your teen won’t be texting while driving. It will read text messages to them so that they aren’t tempted to check them while the vehicle is in operation.  You can buy the app for one of your kids for $13.95 a year or pay $39.95 a year if you want to use it for the whole family.

Steer Clear Mobile

This iPhone app is completely free and helps teach teenagers who to drive safely. It was developed by State Farm to help reduce accidents. Your teenager should qualify for the State Farm Safe Driver Discount if they follow the instructions from this app.

Dangers of Distracted Driving

This app is available for less than $1. It helps your teenagers understand the dangers they may face using their iPhone while operating a vehicle. The consequences may seem unpleasant enough to get them to change their driving habits.
