When I moved from an apartment to a house, I decided to rid myself of “junk”. I had quite a few pots & pans that were burnt out, way too many dishes (2 sets of dinnerware, 1 set of casual-ware and goodness knows how much reusable plastic-ware). So, I got rid of some of it (by taking it to work; sans the burnt out pots & pans). Not to mention, every once in a while there is a broken dish.
Now I find that I’m constantly washing dishes by hand as I don’t always have enough to fill up the dishwasher or can’t wait what seems like hours for my dishwasher cycle. I don’t have a ton of counter space or at least not as much as I used to. Between my cat’s food (which I have to keep on it’s own little counter so the dog doesn’t eat it – yes I know you think it’s gross), to a knife set, a food scale, Mr. Coffee Keurig and a microwave I’m only left with a little space. That space is just enough for the Envision Home Dish Drying Mat.
Since I’m in rental home, I cannot upgrade the dishwasher or make dramatic changes without approval and most of all without sinking money into a house I don’t own. I must seek out temporary solutions to make up for the age of the appliances and space constraints.
When I first received the Envision Home Dish Drying Mat, I thought it would make a great temporary solution until I own a home one day in the near future. Then I realized that when that time comes, I will want to reinvest in things like stemware, fine cookware and other items that REQUIRE hand-washing. Even cleansing some of my small kitchen appliances by wiping them down with warm, mild dish soap is another use for the dish drying mat that I’ve found to come in handy.

Now for the nitty-gritty. Does it perform to it’s claims?
When I opened the package and placed a grip on the Dish Drying Mat to remove it, I instantly thought this has to be the memory foam of dish drying mats. It’s microfiber exterior, combined with it’s foam interior make for a super “plush” surface. It’s not too thick that it wouldn’t steadily support your delicates.
It’s absorbency is definitely far superior to a towel. Of course, that’s easy to say. I did not have the opportunity to perform a full absorption test as in the video, as my family seems to have mistaken it for a “mess” pad and I had to throw it in the washer (aside from the fact that my washer gave up on me, that is the reason I haven’t posted a picture). With a full load of dishes placed on it’s surface (pans, glasses, silverware, bowls) I experienced no leakage through the pad or on it’s sides, whereas a towel is simply a poorly constructed dam.
Overall, what I initially expected to be a temporary solution to my rental home hurdle, I have found this to be a product that I cannot live without. Since my space is limited, another thing that sold me was the ability to fold/roll it up and store it away when it’s not in use. It definitely lives up to it’s expectations and is very stylish looking. At the end of the day, I didn’t even have to ask myself; My mom would LOVE this product! She’s like Martha Stewart when it comes to all things home & kitchen (and décor, arts & crafts, etc.). That alone makes the Envision Home Dish Drying Mat a worthy product!
I loved the color I received, cream, but it is also available in other colors in the 16 in. x 18 in. size.
The mat is also available in XL (18” x 24”) in cream or black, as well as Jumbo (18” x 32”) in cream or black.
