{Review} CollageIt Software

I love taking photos.  That’s it.  I love taking them.

After that, I pretty much don’t do anything with them.  My family and friends are constantly asking for photos.  To that, I exclaim “they’re on Facebook”.  Well, my Grandmother is NOT on Facebook, that I know of.  If she was, she wouldn’t want to be my friend due to the complex algorithms involved in selecting which posts she wants to see or whether she wanted to see anyone’s but mine.

I don’t even have photos hanging on my walls or on tables.  One day I would like to.  Hint hint, wink wink.

I’ve thought about gathering all of the school pictures and just sending them in a batch to my family members and perhaps creating a few photo books.  There are just too many photos.

CollageIt is photo collage making software for Windows & Mac OS X.

I downloaded the program at http://www.collageitfree.com/ for Windows 7.  Installation was extremely easy and fast.  From there, I toyed around with the software without reading instructions.

You start by selecting a style

Step 1 Choose a Collage Style thumb {Review} CollageIt Software

Next, you either add photos by selecting add and choosing one or more folders from your computer or drag and drop.  Depending on what type of collage I’m making, I would use both ways for different types of projects.

Next, you can either drag & drop the photos from the left hand column into the collage, placing pictures where you want them or select “Random Layout”.

If the photos don’t look right in their spots, you can choose to repeat “Random Layout” or “Shuffle” until you get it right.  You can also manually change spots.

If for some reason the layout you selected isn’t working with the photos you selected, you can change the layout and not lose progress.

I created the following collages within minutes! It’s super easy and I love CollageIt! My mother will be so happy when she hears the Worldwide Breaking News that Melissa has sent photos to her family!!

Two very different looking collages, eh?

Within the application, you can export the collage to a photo file (various file types available such as .jpeg, .png, .bmp, .gif and .tif), send it via email, save it as a desktop background, send it to Flickr or even Facebook.

You can turn any collage into a photo album or poster, as well as collages and scrapbooks.  I will be doing this! I think posters might be the more viable option for me with the amount of photos I have. Combined with a frame from Garden Ridge or even a gift certificate for Garden Ridge, my family is sure to love it!

Summary

CollageIt is an easy-to-use photo collage software; useful for the novice or even the pro for creating super-fast collages.  I highly recommend it.  This is now on my must have software list.
