A Better Way to Un-Like Facebook Pages

If you’ve been following along, you know that a few months ago, I ran out of Facebook likes.  Facebook limits the number of pages a user likes to 5,000.  This throws a wrench in things, since I’m constantly entering blog giveaways and connecting with other bloggers.

In April 2012, I first hit the Facebook “LIKE” road block.  I wasn’t sure what to do, but I shared my sorrow with the world by posting: I’m All Out of Likes and I cannot FOLLOW.  In June, I posted I’m All Out Of Likes: Part Deux, a tutorial on how to remedy my plight.

I’ve encountered the same road block several times over the past few months, unliking pages using the method described in I’m All Out Of Likes: Part Deux.  Today, I found an easier way to UNLIKE pages to free up my ability to follow new pages.

I’m All Out Of Likes: Part Deux

Facebook has a limit to the number of pages you can like.  It is currently limited to 5,000 pages.  As a blogger who loves to enter fellow blogger's giveaways, I find this to be a huge restraint.  At first, I tried to unlike some pages.  Then I ran into the hurdle again and again.  The method I was using to unlike pages was not easy, but I found an easier way.

Maintenance Tips

  • Be sure not to UNLIKE fellow bloggers or companies that you remember being part of a giveaway entry on Rafflecopter or Giveaway Tools, if you're entering sweepstakes on blogs.
  • Don't just like ANYTHING.  It's tempting to like pages with ads or brand pages that require a like to enter a contest.  Don't do it unless you really want to.  Visit the page first and if liking them is "required" to enter a sweepstakes on a brand's Facebook page, check the official rules.  Based on Facebook rules, you should pretty much be able to unlike them after entering.  Please note this may not apply to off-site (blog, etc.) Rafflecopter and Giveaway Tools entries.

Check out my sad moment when I first discovered the limit on Facebook page likes here!

How do you Unwind?

Greetings for Mommasaywhat!

Today I decided to get a feel for how everyone that subscribes to this blog unwinds after a long day. We all work, whether it is out of the home or in it. It is truly inevitable we are women! With that said I take the lead.

I work out of the home, my job involves a lot of paper and computer work. So I wonder if it would amaze others if they knew what I did after I came home each day. For starters, the dog has to go out. It's summer, well, not officially but we have had 19 days of 3 digit temps here in Oro Valley, AZ. I get the dog fresh water. I sit down, log on to … you guessed it a computer! For me, it is unwinding because I do what I want to do, read what I want to read, and it's so different than working on the computer at my job.  I check my email, log on to Facebook, play words with friends, check my city in Cityville (but not as much as I used to), play a few quick games of Slingo, talk to my daughter on Facebook while doing all of the previous things, check the news, pay bills as needed, cook, clean, do laundry. Sometimes I am lucky and there isn't much laundry. Last night I refused to cook and had take out – Panda Express!  Does this sound like unwinding to anyone other than me? Because that's just the regular 5 day work week.

Now when I really unwind. I do absolutely bare minimum. Of course, I can now. I am an empty-nester. I clean the night before my weekend off (most of the time) and literally watch movies, eat, nap, sometimes shop,  and get on Facebook. But let's face it  I'm 52 now, when I was younger I felt absolutely horrible if I didn't get everything done. Well I do kind of still feel that way, but I can attest to the fact that I am certainly not sweating the small stuff anymore.

I think I decided really to blog about this because at 52 I now really really know that tomorrow it will all still be here. Nobody else is going to do it for me. It most certainly will not disappear. I know my daughter isn't coming over to help, it's a bit of a drive!

Please share how you unwind. While my mind is still sharp and I'm really not that old. I can use some fresh ideas.

That's it from Mommasaywhat!

Have a Great Night!

{REVIEW} Social Fixer for Facebook

Facebook is constantly changing, causing frustration for the users. While I have somewhat adapted to the Timeline changes, I still find myself wishing for certain features to be returned (to myself).

I use Facebook for a multitude of activities. From the truly social aspect with friends and family to following my favorite brands and blogs as well as what some of you might consider those pesky Facebook games as well as interacting in Facebook groups. As a result, I find Facebook to be cluttered and hard to navigate if you're trying to focus on a specific task, such as weeding out the people you know. Facebook has made some positive changes that allow you to do so, but I still felt like something was missing.

Somehow, I managed to catch a human post on my feed today about Social Fixer for Facebook, formerly known as Better Facebook. It was simply a rave about the product with very little detail only citing that it made Facebook…better. Naturally, I was curious so I searched the web.

After locating the site and quickly reading about it, I almost felt like I heard the sound of Angels! I'm a computer junkie and I spent a LOT of time on Facebook. In other words, if I'm awake, I probably have Facebook up at all times and refer to it quite often for all of the aforementioned reasons, including "research" for Melissa Say What?

I quickly downloaded the browser plugin for Google Chrome. There are also plugins available for Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera 11 and Grease-Monkey. There are no plans to support Internet Explorer (or Internet Exploder as I like to cal it). Upon installation, I was prompted to select either the default settings or custom settings. I chose the default. One quick page refresh and I have an all new Facebook. Not only is does it bring back former features, but it adds a slew of new features.

Below are the features I find to be most beneficial:
